Should I turn my water off when on vacation?
Conventional wisdom is yes, if you’re going to be leaving your home for an extended vacation turning off the water to your home can prevent floods and leaks from causing issues.
Why do I have to disconnect my hose for the winter?
Disconnecting your hose from the spigot drains water that would otherwise get trapped in the line which could lead to the pipe cracking.
Should I leave my tap running when expecting snow?
Yes, leaving the water running even at a trickle can help prevent your pipes from freezing in the winter.
Why do I have a sewer smell in my home?
A sewer smell could be caused by a variety of factors and you should contact a plumber some of these factors include:
- City Sewer issues if the smell is also present outside of your home.
- Dried Traps if the smell comes from a sink rarely used, run the tap a bit to fill the U-trap.
- Missing or loose sewer traps which act as a simple plug (that is filled with water), to trap sewer odor from travelling into your home.
